You do not pay more using a buyer’s agent in the majority of cases.
The commission for both sides (listing & selling side) of the transaction is negotiated upfront when the seller lists their home. It is spelled out in the listing contract the total commission and what portion of that commission is going to be shared with the buyer’s agent (Selling Agent). The commission for both sides typically comes out of the seller’s proceeds from the sale of the home.
It is important to know that the list agent is representing the seller’s best interest and that a buyer’s agent represents and looks out for the buyer’s best interest. If you are looking to purchase, we recommend working with an agent that is going to look out for your best interest!
